Pikarere results, Waitohu ride poster

After a quick turn-around, results from Pikarere are now on our website in the usual place.

Waitohu comes hard on the heels of Pikarere and you will need to have pre-entries for Open and Long Intermediate submitted this Wednesday 2nd for the event on Sunday 6th March. Check out the ride poster in our calendar page.

Photos from Pikarere will be delayed while our usual photographer takes a short holiday, and he won't be at Waitohu. He'll aim to have something ready by Bright's Farm.

Manakau photo album complete

All remaining photos are now uploaded and the album finalised. If you couldn't find yourself in the first installment, there should be something for you now, particularly the later starters. Look for the link on our photos page as usual.

The weather forecast for Pikarere is looking like warm and overcast at this stage, so we're hoping for a good day.  If anyone is wondering what the terrain is like, we have a trail profile for Pikarere, and while the trail may vary year on year, the profile gives you a reasonable idea of the country you cover.

See you there.

Manakua Photos (first installment) available now

I'm about three quarters of the way through editing and have uploaded the selection so far to Flickr. You can find a link to the album on the WATRC website's photos page.

All going well I hope to have the album finished before Pikarere on 28 February.

The "placeholder" image will remain in the set until the job is completed - the last part is tagging the images for search engines and updating the cover photo - once the cover appears on the WATRC photos page the album is finished.

We have a gentle reminder for competitors that WATRC rules do not permit the use of GPS, and while the rules permit carrying a cellphone, you should only use this to make emergency calls once you've started on the course. If you are seen with a phone out, you may be asked to explain why, and you run the risk of elimination.

Also, be responsible for your own ride - don't just follow your leader. Look for the trail markers, and do take the time to read and understand on-course directions. Course errors must be corrected by retracing your steps to the point you made the error and you must complete the course from that point.

If you're unfamiliar with them, the WATRC Ride Rules are available for download from our website.

Pikarere Ride Poster now available

Posted to our email news group and on the Calendar page of our website now.

Pikarere is a great venue and a deceptively challenging ride with quite a lot of hill work on trails can be hard under foot in dry conditions. We have a trail profile for this venue that gives you some indication of the terrain, although the course may vary from previous years.

Photos from Manakau are still in progress - I'll try to have at least a partial set for release over the weekend.

Manakau Results published

Results from Manakau can now be found on our Results page.

Photos unfortunately will take a bit longer. Due to work commitments out of town, selection from the very large number of images taken has barely commenced We'll get them out as soon as possible and certainly have something for you before the next ride.

Next ride is at Pikarere on Sunday 28 February - we're waiting on the ride poster and it will be published as soon as it becomes available.
