Directions to new ride base - Beach ride 9 October cancelled

We've published directions to the new Waitarere ride base - as usual we have a map in our calendar, or you can check the map and directions here.

You'll take the same route as in past years but not go quite so far. Turn off SH1 onto Waitarere Beach Road towards Waitarere settlement.  Follow Waitarere Beach Road to the built up area, and turn right at the 1st roundabout.  The entrance to the ride base will be on your left about 200 metres from the roundabout and will be well marked. Turns will be marked with pink bottles as usual.

With regret we've had to cancel the 9 October ride. We've been unable to secure a suitable ride base.

Unfortunately, our Labour weekend ride on 23 October at Aokautere near Palmerston North is also looking doubtful due to rain affected ground conditions at this new venue, but we are hoping to be able to  confirm or reschedule and will post any updates as soon as they come to hand.

Waitarere - first ride 2 October and a new ride base

Less than two weeks until the first ride of our new season! We've just released the Waitarere ride poster and you can find it in our Calendar page.

We have a new ride base, still in Kanuka Drive in the Waitarere Rise sub-division, but not the same base as in previous years. Be sure to follow the markers (pink bottles). No directions yet but we hope to have the details soon.

We'll be running an Intro Class at most rides this season.  You do not have to be a club member to enter this class and the ride fee is only $15.  The Intro Class is intended for people new to the sport and want to 'give CTR a try', for competitors or horses that may not be up to fitness, or for young horses just starting out. The Intro distance will vary between 7 and 10 kms and at most rides will be an ‘out and back’ trail. The optimum speed will be 8km per hour.

We are delighted to confirm sponsors for the following classes: Novice/Novice Junior and Intro Classes are sponsored by Dorne Logging, and the Rural Trading Post is sponsoring the short Intermediate class which will be known as RTP Intermediate.
